Coaches

Are you having difficulty managing and coaching “today’s” athletes?  Do your athletes have trouble retaining information?  Does providing feedback to your athletes (even if positive) create problems?  How about communicating with your athletes and/or their parents?  You are not alone.  Learn how to manage today’s athletes and help them reach their excellence, along with the following areas:

–         Teaching life skills so you can then coach

–         Developing mental toughness in your team

–         Incorporating mental skills training directly into your practices

–         Helping your athletes fail so they can succeed

“The value of working with a sport psychologist of Dr. Jones’ caliber is immeasurable.  She provides our student-athletes and coaches with tools to utilize on a daily basis, and challenges them to implement these strategies within their respective teams.  Specifically, our coaches are given a “Coach Playbook” with various exercises to continue leadership development and help us become more effective mentors.”

Sophie Dennis, Coordinator of Student-Athlete Wellness, William Smith Athletics

Corporate

In many cases the boardroom is no different than a field, course, pool, or court. Individuals and teams who want to reach their excellence struggle with confidence, managing performance anxiety, motivation/commitment, focus and concentration. Dr. Tiff can help your organization develop and improve performance by teaching individuals and teams how to develop the performance skills to reach high performance. For more information please contact Dr. Tiff.

Individuals

One-on-one sessions conducted with athletes can be held at the local Starbucks or on the “playing field.” These 60-90 minute sessions include discussion of some of the sample topics below.

–         Building confidence

–         Letting go of mistakes

–         Communicating with coach and/or parents

–         Competing with consistency

–         Developing mental toughness

–         Goal-setting and commitment

–         Reaching personal and athletic excellence

Preferably, athletes will complete the AthleteDISC profile prior to their first meeting.   Written notes will be provided to athletes after every session.

Parents

Often youth clubs or leagues will bring in an expert to talk to parents about being a supportive youth sport parent.  If you are a club that has done so, what are the lasting impressions/impact   are there any?  Dr. Tiff will make sure to leave a lasting impression on your club, including your parents.  She will provide examples from her work with college student-athletes that will demonstrate the impact parenting can have on children’s academic, athletic, and social performance in a college setting.

“I have had coaches within the club who have placed a whole new level of belief in creating the right mental climate for their teams, I cannot count the number of parents who have changed their parenting, not just in soccer situations but in the lives of their kids at home and have heard multiple times players at practice or at games say “What did Tiff say about this” or “Tiff told us not to say that!”

David Newman, Director of Coaching, Forza Futbol Club

Teams

Sessions with teams can occur in a classroom environment, on golf courses, or on pool decks.  Initial sessions are 90-120 minutes.   Below are sample topics that typically are discussed during team sessions:

–         Communication

–         Accountability (of team members and self)

–         General team building

–         Goal-setting and commitment

–         Reaching excellence and consistency

–         Developing leadership and first followers

Post-session consultations will occur between Dr. Tiff and Coaches.  Also, a written report with themes and action plans will be provided.

Youth Sport Camps

Are you a youth sport camp that wants to separate yourself from the rest? One way to do so is to incorporate the psychological, emotional, and social components into your curriculum.  Through innovative and fun exercises, your campers will learn mental and life skills they can use in and out of sport.  And if that doesn’t sell you, by using X-Factor’s resources your camp will be so unique that the campers will actually want to talk to their parents about their experiences.  In return you have happy kids, happy parents and guaranteed returning campers for the following year.
